The What and Why behindGiftDay
St Andrew’s has always been an outward-looking church, working with mission partners working overseas who we have supported in different ways over theyears. We are also known for reaching out to our local community hereinWycombe. Gift Day is one way that we do this, alongside prayer and sharing our time, skills and resources.
Jesus said, “Freely you have received, freely give”
We want to be generous to others, knowing that God has been generous to us. This is a time for us to show a generosity of heart, giving cheerfully from what we have, however much or little that may be.
In recent years we have given to a wide variety of organisations, withapriority given to faith-based charities. This has included supporting the persecuted church, social actions projects and local charities. Gift Day has also helped support vulnerable local families here in Wycombe. This year we are also asking for your support for an important project for our sound and lighting that will help the worshipping life of the church.
We hope that you will be able to help us give to the projects that have been chosen for this year’s Gift Day.
Please pray about what you can give, not just from your surplus, but from what you have. Jesus commended the gift of a few small coins in the temple collection from the widow who gave all that she had.
