We are really pleased to announce that we should be able to move forward with the first phase of Nexus this year, with an aim of beginning the building work in September 2023. This work will include the entrance area, kitchen and the lounge area.
This work will improve the welcome area, create a new kitchen and servery, bring the offices to the front of the church, improve the toilets, and refresh the prayer room to also act as a creche and meeting room. Additionally, we aim to carry out significant refurbishment work including replacing the old sliding screens, improving the energy efficiency and environmental impact of the building, and replacing the chairs with lighter more easily movable ones. We have agreed a budget for this phase of work to be:
£650k – building works plus £50k furniture and fittings
£475k – In the bank
£75k – Pledged
£550k
£150k – Shortfall
We are currently applying to grant making bodies to make up this difference.
Loans. As we look to move ahead with the building work, we will need to have all the funds for the building either in the bank or guaranteed. In order to achieve this, we are likely to need loans for up to £175k to enable this to happen. To secure a loan, we are firstly asking anyone in the church who might be able to help us. If this is something you could help with, please do contact Simon Jones (our treasurer) (thesimonjones@btinternet.com) to find out more information.
Do pray as we move forward with this exciting step in the life of the church to further help us with the mission and vision we believe God is calling us to.
