When Bucks County Council changed their funding for youth provision in 2012, the Eastside Youth Centre based over the road at Highcrest Academy was on the brink of closure. A group of local volunteers, including several from St Andrews came together, set up a charity and took over running the Youth Club for the community. Clubs for 11-19 year olds run on Wednesday and Friday evenings, Bucks Young Carers and Wycombe Youth Action hire the facilities on a regular basis and other groups occasionally. Having just been awarded Action4Youth's "Bucks Youth Organisation of the Year" the team of volunteers are determined to keep the centre open, but struggling to raise everyday running costs as the initial grant from BCC is now almost gone and grant income is usually only available for projects. St Andrews would like to support this on-going fund-raising.
