Since in Acts chapter 1 verse 11 the angel said to the early Christians “‘This same Jesus . . . will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven’, the believers have been expecting its fulfilment. The earliest disciples, including the Apostle Paul, were expecting this event in their own lifetimes. Even after nearly 2000 years, we are still waiting. What does God say about the church with reference to her expectancy? How does He contrast the part of the church who expect and those who have become complacent? Jesus’ parable of the Ten Virgins shed light on this issue and makes it relevant to the present day Church. Matthew 25: 1-13.
