In this parable, Jesus is teaching his disciples about his second coming, when he will return from heaven to earth to judge between the faithful and the unfaithful, the believers and the unbelievers. He says he will return like a thief in the night and nobody will know when. The disciples learn that Jesus expects them to be ready, like a good Butler waiting for his master to return home from a wedding feast. There will be wonderful rewards for those who are ready, but tragically, those who are not ready will be cut off from God forever. In this talk, we will explore what Jesus taught about his return, and think about how we can follow the disciples’ example to live ready. We will look at the incredible offer of salvation which God has given us, but also learn that there is a deadline. Are we ready to be judged? Luke 12:35-48
